2004-12-07 - 10:00 a.m. I live in constant fear of the fire alarm. See, before the fire alarm goes into full blast, if it's quiet and you are listening carefully, it goes off for a split second very very softly, like it's warming up. Then it explodes into the loudest, most horrifying fire alarm you've ever heard in your life or in your nightmares. It's...okay, tell your mind to think of "loud noise" and you'll probably picture yourself at a parade with 8 fire engines with their sirens on driving by with babies screaming and thunder clapping and those New Years noisemakers. But no. IT'S LOUDER THAN THAT. And I keep thinking every little noise is the pre-alarm warning noise and I get those little adreneline attacks like when you almost fell out of your chair but didn't and your heart races. It's lurking everywhere! Especially when I'm in the shower or eating breakfast in my pajamas when I should be leaving for the bus, like right now. Goodbye.
